It happened on a Sunday. My daughter, then eighteen months old, stood on my lap, looked me dead in the eye, and dropped — knees first — with the precision of a guided munition.
In the long, silent moment that followed, curled on the floor of my own living room, I understood something. My child was not attacking me. My child was, in the cold language of evolution, attacking her own future siblings. The next generation was trying to prevent the one after it.
I looked for protection. The hard cup was banned, uncomfortable, and frankly a liability at bath time. There was nothing soft. Nothing everyday. Nothing that treated the crown jewels with the gravity they deserve.
So we built it. Four layers. One mission. Semper mollis — always soft.
